We all have many reasons for working. It might be for extra income. Or better yet, a stable career for your dream life. And most do it for their family, especially remote working moms!
And with the coming week, it’s time to celebrate the care our mothers gave us. It’s World Breastfeeding Week!
What’s World Breastfeeding Week?
The World Breastfeeding Week happens from August 1 to August 7 every year. It aims to bring awareness to the world of the importance of breastfeeding.
It originated with the 1990 Innocenti Declaration that aims to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding. This initiative was signed by policymakers, WHO, Unicef with audacious goals to normalize breastfeeding with their newborn children.
And it also wants to educate health care practitioners, government institutions, and the community to provide support properly to mothers around their jurisdictions.
Why Should You Breastfeed?
And there’s a good reason for it. Breastfeeding is better than other alternatives, especially for children up to 6 months of age.
According to the New York Health Department, breastfeeding keeps your baby healthy. And it protects them from infections, and it’s easily digested. It also contains the perfect blend of nutrients for your growing kid.
And, according to a study published in Lancet, with the increase in breastfeeding, it’s estimated to have prevented 20,000 maternal deaths due to breast cancer. It’s not only healthy for your baby but also for your own well-being. So how do we celebrate World Breastfeeding Week?
Breastfeed Your Baby
The best way to celebrate is to practice breastfeeding. Know that this is the best nutrition for your child’s first months. And doing it allows them to grow stronger for the bright future ahead of them.
Breastfeeding Selfie on Social Media
World Breastfeeding Week is all about awareness. And what better way to promote than showing how to do it! Show a picture of yourself breastfeeding. It can be now or when you were breastfeeding back then.
It can show that it’s something normal and moms should be proud of.
Share Your Experience
On top of the selfie, it’s also good to share your experience when breastfeeding (or when you were breastfeeding back then). Be as personal as possible and convey the challenges when you were in their shoes. You’ll never know who you’ll inspire with it.
Thank All the Mothers You Know
This day can be celebrated, even if you’re not a mother. Of course, we all have mothers ourselves. And a simple thank you for their love and care will go a long way. So hug and thank all the mothers you know for their job well done.
Spare Some Time for Relaxation
Motherhood is challenging. You deserve to relax and spend some time unwinding yourself. It can be a spa pampering session. Or some time off from all your crazy responsibilities. After all, you deserve it this world breastfeeding week!
Conclusion
Motherhood is a beautiful experience. It comes with different hardships that are worth it at the end of the day. So with World Breastfeeding Week, it’s time to commemorate all the love of our mothers and celebrate! Cheers!
