Well, you’re in luck! Here’s a guide on how to study for a Google Ads Certification, what you need to know about the exam, and how to ace it.
What is a Google Ads Certification Exam?
Before discussing how to pass your Google Ads Certification Exam, it is essential to know what it is first. Google Ads Certification are professional accreditation Google gives to individuals who have shown mastery in Google Ads’ basic and advanced aspects.
There are six kinds of Google Ads Certification: Google Ads Search, Google Ads Display, Google Ads Video, Shopping Ads, Google Ads Apps, and Google Ads Measurement. Each of these requires two separate exams, one basic and one in advanced, before gaining certification.
Each Google Ads Certification exam costs USD 50 (Php 2,934), meaning you pay USD 100 (Php 5,867) for each course certification. That’s around Php 36,000 if you want to be proficient in all six forms of Google Ads.
Enroll Yourself in Google Skillshop.
With how expensive taking the Google Ads Certification Exam is, you must ensure you’re as prepared for them as much as possible. The first step in doing so is enrolling in Google Skillshop.
Google Skillshop is where all the e-learning courses are offered by Google. You will find all the lessons you need to take to become proficient in Google ads here. This is also where you will also find the certification exams.
Once you find Google Skillshop, you need to set up your account. If you already have one, ensure to sync your account with your lessons; so you don’t accidentally take your exams on a separate account.
Choose Which Google Ads Certification to Study First.
After setting up your Google Skillshop, it’s time to pick which Google Ads course you should start learning. This can be a bit difficult, seeing that there are six courses to choose from.
If you don’t know where to start, start with Google Ads Search first. Search ads are often the preferred method companies use when making ads on Google. Next, focus on Google Ads Display, then Google Ads Video, Shopping Ads, Google Ads Apps, and Google Ads Measurement, in that order.
The courses are free, so you won’t have to worry about not having enough money for them and the exams. And just like in school, a great way to ensure you retain your lessons is by noting all the essential information.
You can take notes via your PC or laptop, but nothing beats noting it down by hand. Why so? Because it helps you better organize information so you can condense your record to the most crucial parts of the lesson.
Review, Review, Review!
Of course, at the end of each Google ads course is the Google Ads Certification Exam. But before that, you can still review your lessons before taking the exam. This is where your notes will come in handy, as having one helps you recall all the necessary information you need.
One review tip I’ve learned when taking exams is to not overly rely on reviewing to carry you through the exam. The thing is, reviewing isn’t a substitute for actual studying. It’s only meant to help you recall what you’ve learned.
Does this mean you shouldn’t review anymore? Not at all. It simply means you should take the course seriously, particularly if you’re new to this field. This is also the perfect opportunity to apply what you’ve learned before your certification exam.
Time to Take the Exam.
Now that you’re suitably prepared, now’s the perfect time to take your Google Ads Certification exam. The exam contains forty-six to fifty questions each, and you have seventy-five minutes to complete this exam. To pass, you need to score at least eighty percent or higher.
The exam will be located in Google Skillshop, alongside your learning materials. Before starting your exam, ensure that you are fully prepared, as you’re not allowed to pause or close your browser during the exam.
Be careful on answering the questions. As once you’ve moved on to the next question, you cannot go back to revise your previous answer. If you’ve already finished, simply submit your exam and wait for the results.
If you passed, congratulations! You’re now a certified specialist on that one aspect of Google Ads. If not, you can retake the exam after one day.
